The microsoft's Xbox 360

Microsoft's Xbox 360 was the first "next-generation" game console to hit the market in November 2005, beating the Nintendo Wii and PlayStation 3 by a full year...

Like its peers, the 360 initially suffered from a somewhat anemic game lineup and some annoying hardware and software limitations. Since its launch, however, the Xbox team has implemented an assortment of incremental improvements, even going so far as to release an updated version of the console. The result, as of fall 2007, is the best version of the Xbox 360 to date.

The current model features the HDMI output with 1080p video support that was missing on the original version, as well as a host of other tweaks and improvements to the system's underlying software. Best of all, the 360 now boasts the largest--and many would argue, the best--game lineup. In addition to great games such as Assassin's Creed and Call of Duty 4, the 360 is the only console where you can play such must-have exclusive titles as Halo 3,BioShock, Gears of War, and Mass Effect.

Add to that a host of impressive digital media features, including an add-on HD DVD movie player and a decent online selection of downloadable pay-per-view HD movies and TV shows.

The Xbox 360 is the second video game console produced by Microsoft, and the successor to the Xbox.

The Xbox 360 was officially unveiled on MTV on May 12, 2005, with detailed launch and game information divulged later that month at the Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3).

A prominent feature of the Xbox 360 is its integrated Xbox Live service that allows players to compete online and download content such as arcade games, game demos, trailers, TV shows, and movies. Major features of the console include its Windows Media Center multimedia capabilities, mandatory support of high definition in all games, movie rentals and game downloads from its online marketplace and the ability to watch HD DVD movies with an add-on drive.

The Xbox 360 competes with Sony's PlayStation 3 and Nintendo's Wii as part of the seventh generation of video game consoles. The Xbox 360 is a powerful and mysterious device whose power is only matched by its mystery. Here are some of the features you can expect from the system.

Dashboard and Interface
The Xbox 360's onscreen Dashboard interface is truly stellar--it's incredibly easy to navigate and explore. Comprised of color-coded blades for the system's various features (Marketplace, Xbox Live, games, media, and system), you can slide from one section of the Dashboard to the next with ease. Since the initial dashboard release, the interface has gone through a number of upgrades. Every spring and fall, a new Dashboard update adds in a number of most-wanted features that improve the overall performance and usability of the dashboard. Like the faceplates, the Dashboard is customizable, with a host of themes preloaded on the hard drive and many more available to download.

Ring of Light and Xbox Guide Button – The ring of light is the power button and it is divided into four quadrants that can display a number of different colors depending on what is going on. We’re not entirely sure what all the ring of light can do at this point, however. The Xbox Guide button is prominently featured on the controller as well as the Xbox 360 remote and allows you to instantly access information on person who just challenged you on Xbox Live or you can jump right to where you can find downloadable content for a game you are currently playing. The Xbox Guide button will also allow you to turn the Xbox 360 system on and off from the comfort of your couch – Now that is a great idea that is long overdue.
Xbox Live – There will be two types of Xbox Live for the Xbox 360. The Silver version is free and it allows you to access the Xbox Live Marketplace as well as communicate with your friends using voice chat. You cannot, however, play games online. With the Gold version of Xbox Live, you get all of the possible features and, most importantly, you can play games online. Your achievements and statistics will be archived so you can check them whenever you want and you will also be able to use video chat and video messaging. Microsoft has announced that all new Xbox 360 owners will get Gold Service for the first month and then after that the pricing will be similar to Xbox Live on the current Xbox.

Xbox Live Marketplace – The marketplace is an area where you will be able to download game demos and trailers as well as new content for games such as new levels, characters, vehicles, weapons, and much more. Some things will be free but you will have to pay for some premium content.

Digital Entertainment – The Xbox 360 will once again allow you to rip your music to the hard drive to use during games, but it will also stream music off of any MP3 player that you plug into the USB 2.0 ports (which includes the Sony PSP …). You can also upload your photos to the hard drive and share them with your friends on Xbox Live. The Xbox 360 will also play DVD movies, but unlike the original Xbox, the Xbox 360 can display them in progressive scan. At this point, it also seems like DVD playback will be available out of the box and will not require the purchase of an extra remote or anything like that which is definitely an improvement.

Personalize your console – With the interchangeable faces of the system itself, you can change the color of your system however and whenever you want by simply snapping on a new face. Realistically, you won’t even actually have to buy new faces because you could simply paint the stock face yourself but it is guaranteed that Microsoft will roll out a line of limited edition and collectible faces to lure people in. You will also be able to customize the look and feel of the Xbox Guide browser on the system which we suspect will be similar to changing themes in Windows on your PC. Customization is always a good thing and while these features don’t really mean anything in the long run, they are certainly nice to have

The console sold out completely upon release in all regions except in Japan, and, as of March 31, 2009, 30.2 million units have been sold worldwide, according to Microsoft. The Xbox 360 is currently available in three configurations—the "Arcade," the "Pro," and the "Elite"—and each has its own selection of accessories.

In conclusion, the Xbox is a wonderful game with unique features. If you think otherwise drop your comment.

If you would like to get the xbox console for free. Then here is the place to go
